Guardistallo, from Medieval Latin Stallum Gualdi is situated atop a hill at the confluence of the river Cecina Sterza.
Lombard origin, as evidenced by the name, came under the dominion of the Gherardesca who donated to the Bishop of Volterra.
Its territory is covered mostly by forests and meadows with few princiaple its activity is related to the cultivation of wine and oil.
